Legal briefing for construction firms: competitive activity

Local Construction firms will be able to find out about the effects of the recent Office of Fair Trading (OFT) investigation into anti –competitive activities in the construction sector in the second in our series of legal updates being organised in partnership with Pinsent Masons LLP and Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce. The event will be at Pinsent Masons’ Offices in Spinningfields Manchester, on 11 November, from 4.30pm.

The OFT investigation resulted in fines of nearly £130m being imposed on 103 contractors for engaging in a range anti-competitive practices, including cover pricing. This session will consider what lessons can be learned from the investigation and how construction and engineering companies can mitigate the risks of being caught up in any future investigations, where the penalties for non-compliance are likely to be even more severe.

Future events in the series will cover key industry topics as waste management, health & safety, employment law and project financing.
