Top 10 Tips: For planning a Christmas party

by Simon Thompson, Managing Director of Conferences-UK

1. Early bird - Book early to get the best deals and avoid disappointment as the hot spots get booked up fast

2. Location, location, location – don’t be afraid to go further afield. Trains and coaches offer some great deals that can be snapped up

3. Budget’s best – decide what your top priorities are and splash out on the most important things on them

4. The proof’s in the pudding – people always remember the quality of the food so make sure the meal leaves them with fond memories

5. Time to get merry – remember that it’s supposed to be a party not a business meeting so treat staff to a drink or two

6. Party time – music creates atmosphere. If you want people to really let their hair down then hire a DJ or band that’s sure to get the party started

7. Theme-tastic – for added fun or seasonal style theme your event

8. Outer space – make sure the room you select is large enough for everyone and consider hiring a venue with sheltered outside space or a conservatory for overspill

9. Mates rates – use a free venue finding service, such as Conferences-UK to take the hassle away and secure the best price

10. Santa’s coming – do a ‘Secret Santa’ so everyone gets a present to put under the tree

http://www.conferences-uk.org.uk/ is a free UK Venue Finding Service aimed at conference organisers and meeting planners, allowing them to access one central database to find venues that match their conferencing and venue requirements.
