It's Your Manchester: consultation on city governance

by Catherine Fleetwood, Assistant Policy Manager

Manchester City Council (under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 ) must review the way it is governed before the next local election, which will be in May 2010.

The 2 following options have been proposed:

Option A is a "New Style Leader" who would be elected by the council and would incur no additional cost. Powers are different to Option B.

Option B is an "Elected Mayor" who would be elected by the people in a separate election, and would incur an additional cost. Powers are different to Option A.

The Chamber has been invited to comment on the proposed changes on behalf of our members - so we need to know what you think.

We need to respond by Tuesday 22nd September so can you please complete this short survey by no later than Monday 14th September.

Please read this guidance document detailing further information on the consultation.

Once you have read this, please click on the link below to give us your view. Please note: do not fill in the survey if your business is not based within the boundaries of Manchester City Council
